Rab is a brand founded in 1981 by Robert Carrington, a British climber, known for producing highly reliable, high-quality gear designed for extreme cold environments and alpine climbing worldwide. The brand is particularly renowned for its advanced craftsmanship and attention to detail in down and synthetic insulation products, which form its roots.

Now, Rab has introduced its first sleeping mat series, offering a comprehensive experience when paired with their sleeping bags. The Stratosphere 5.5 is a versatile sleeping mat with an R-value of 5.5, suitable for all-season use including harsh winter conditions. It features Stratus™ R insulation made from 100% recycled materials, designed to trap air and reduce heat loss through convection. Thanks to the lightweight structure combining air and insulation, this mat provides excellent warmth without adding bulk, minimizing pack size.

Comfort-focused details include large, tall air chambers on both sides to prevent rolling off during sleep. The soft fabric with grip printing reduces slipping of the sleeping bag. This hybrid design supports comfortable sleep by maintaining preferred sleeping postures. The mat is equipped with a thin, dual-direction valve and a large pump sack for quick inflation. The staff sack can be opened and closed from the side, making packing and unpacking easy. This comfortable sleeping mat is perfect not only for extreme cold conditions but also for car camping. For added insulation in severe cold environments, it can be combined with the Insured Sheet 00 to enhance thermal performance.
